However, regardless of the quality, there *was* a show. It could have been handled differently (BETTER), certainly, but the fact remains that the show existed. For 6 years there existed a show almost exclusively about lesbians, that had amazing talented beautiful actresses in it portraying women who love other women. And that's pretty darn awesome.

Gah! Desperate Housewives almost ruined Teri Hatcher for me!!! And I didn't even notice. I got to borrow season 1 of Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman from a friend, and OMG it's so awesome. I mean, of course I knew I loved it, it was my absolute favourite show when I was growing up, but I haven't seen it in a long time, and after DH went crazy for me I sort of partly assumed it was just my 12-year-old self's infatuation with Lois Lane that made the entire show for me, because I figured if I really loved Teri Hatcher, then I would be able to stick with DH. But DH got so bad, I really tried, but I gave up (well, I did like her in that movie with Christina...). I just couldn't do it. I'm sorry, Teri!! But Teri being Lois Lane??? OMG. It's still so totally awesome. We watched the pilot the other night, and then the second episode tonight, and it's so good. It's so dorky, and sweet, and fun, and Teri is so pretty and just amazing. Of course, my favourite years are after she finds out that he's Superman, and they can conspire together, but the early years are adorable as well, but naturally I'm so impatient I just spent half an hour on YouTube watching clips of the later seasons... and interviews, and bloopers, and I do still love Teri. A whole lot. She's so adorable! Why, Desperate Housewives, why?? You made me doubt my devotion to a really awesome lady! That's how much you're not my kind of show! But I shan't doubt again!! (And I shall stay far far away from DH...)

(I've been squeeing non-stop...

Awwwwww.... look how *happy* she is to se him....

OMG! Look how they *kiss* each other! On the lips! And it's not in character! How sweeeet!

Eeeee!!! It's *that* scene!! I remember that scene!! That scene had me flipping out an entire summer hiatus!!

And that's pretty much been me for the last half hour....)

Also!!! OMG!!! Video of Lucy on The L Word!!! I have no idea where this clip comes from, or who found it, or whatever, it was just posted in the comments to DorothySurrender's L Word post this afternoon. Warning: contains hinting spoilers at a general plot arch of the new season, but no specifics at all. Lucy! Lucy! Lucy!

I've been meaning to blog for a while now. But really, life is mostly work, which is interesting and satisfying, but not something that makes me wanna blog (and also that non-disclosure agreement I signed), and as for TV, at the moment, the hour I most look forward to is Men in Trees, which just started up here again. Which saddens me a bit. Not hugely, or anything, I'm very fond of Men in Trees (for reasons I haven't quite untangled yet, but I'm sure they're there), but in these days of new L Word episodes that I've waited almost a year for, 30 Rock, We're Getting Nowhere recapping what I thought would be my favourite show and all the other awesome AfterEllen vlogs, Ellen's writers being back from the strike, Women's Murder Club, and Cashmere Mafia there is something sad about my favourite show being about a straight city girl relationship coach stuck in the woods with a bunch of very quirky characters.

Now, 30 Rock has an excuse. I only have a few episodes left of my 1st season DVD set, and I know once I've watched those I'll have to wait until fall for season 2 to appear. So I'm trying to back off it a little, because I enjoy the feeling of having episodes yet to watch.

As for Ellen, well, the obsession is going on a year and a half now, and is starting to mellow out a little. I adore her, and Portia, and the show is funny, but when you've seen a few hundred of them they're starting to seem pretty darn alike. These days I mostly just tape them and wait for the forum to tell me what parts I should watch (because there's too much going on to find the time every day to watch an entire show).

Women's Murder Club and Cashmere Mafia have failed to hold my interest. No big surprise there. Women's Murder Club is straighter than Men in Trees, which is really sad because the first is a crime drama/comedy/whatever and the second is mostly a relationship comedy. Cashmere Mafia started out relatively well, but it got to where storyline after storyline got unwatchable, until I was fastforwarding more than I was watching, and the only reason I watched was because Miranda Otto and Bonnie Somerville are gorgeous, and then I might just as well look at pictures.

The runner-up for biggest disappointment is The L Word. It doesn't take home the big prize because it really has only followed its usual pattern. I look forward to it so, and then I really enjoy the first 3 episodes or so, and then it starts going downhill. This season I'm really into TiBette, of course, but I get so sad when I think about how much it will hurt Jodi, and Alice freaks me out these day, and I hate hate hate Jenny, and Cybill who? And Helena's not even around these days. MAJOR suckage about Helena. Again, I just save the episodes, and then wait for scribegrrrl to recap so I can go watch the scenes I think I'll like.

The major disappointment totally has to be the We're Getting Nowhere recaps of The L Word. I was looking forward to this something fierce, which is of course why it's so disappointing to find I don't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. And it's not that I don't love Karman, Jill, and Dara, I do! It's just that I don't agree with them. They love the scenes I hated and fastforwarded through, and they don't care about my favourite characters, and they roll their eyes at the stuff I adore. They're still brilliant as ever, but when they were recapping South of Nowhere and Top Model I had never watched either of these shows so what they were saying didn't matter to me, I could just enjoy them being hilarious. Now when they're doing The L Word I get all riled up and sad that they don't talk about the stuff I cared about in the episodes, and then I roll my eyes and shiver in pain when they go on and on about how much they loved a scene that I absolutely hated. *weepies*

So Men in Trees it is. Anne Heche is pretty, and adorable, and quirky, and a lot of fun. Suleka Mathews is *gorgeous*. Sarah Strange is quirky and cute. Scenery is pretty, too. And the show is easy on the eyes, and easy on the mind, doesn't deal much in angst or embarrassment, and is a perfectly harmless funny little show. Why isn't next week here yet?

(Also, if they went and signed that Arrested Development movie deal, that would totally make my day.)

I've been behind watching episodes, so first here is last Sunday's ep. Hopefully I'll get 5x05 up tomorrow.

I guess it must have been a pretty good episode, and all, considering I only squeaked and covered my eyes a few times, however, the only thing I care about retrospectively were the last 3 minutes...

My teeth have moved over night. Like, actually moved. I woke up this morning, and my upper and lower jaw teeth were no longer aligned, and I can't bite down properly. It's terribly disturbing. Doesn't hurt, or anything, it just doesn't fit at all. When I bite down my teeth touch in two places, the very front (where the upper front teeth feel like they're too far back, and therefore the lower front teeth doesn't fit behind them), and the third molar on the right on, just two of the tips brushing, where I'm pretty sure they didn't use to. Yesterday I could grind my teeth, if I felt the urge. I kinda wanna blame the fact that I flossed last night, something I'm really terrible at and usually forget, but last night I did, and now my teeth have moved. Suggestions, anyone? I hate having to go to the dentist, it's expensive, and they never do anything anyway.

FBI dude: "You sound like you're reading from a phone book."

Bwahaha!! (partly at the title of the episode, partly at the quote.)

Other than that, the latest episode mostly made me sad.

Then I read Tammy Lynn Etheridge's post about the rules of nature, and got even sadder. She has a way with words, that one.

I'm about 5 minutes into last night's episode, and already I'm freaking out. I yawned over the re-cap of last season (surprisingly I remembered most of it), *squee*d and giggled over the intro (I know I didn't like it at first, but now I associate it so strongly with new episodes it has me all excited... although I wish there was a cha-cha-cha at the end), and then a minute into the first scene that lady is looking at Bette and Tina with a very disturbing look, and I know something awkward is about to happen, and I hate awkward, and am once again reminded why I always *always* save the episodes until there are proper recaps online so I can prepare myself. *shudder*

That said, mmmm, they're gorgeous! And Angelica is so adorable!

but of course I couldn't keep from watching the episode... Spoilers ahead for 5x01 - LGB Tease! )

However, even more than next week, I'm looking forward the the We're Getting Nowhere vlog!!!! IIIiiiiiiiii!!!! SO very awesome that they're gonna be talking about The L Word. A show I actually both watch, and care about, for a change. Not that they're not always hilarious, but this is even better...

Although I gotta admit I'm on the side of 'debatable', apparently the world has decided that Jodie Foster is out these days. Which of course makes me very very happy! Either way, I've adored Jodie in movies for years and years and years, and some I've loved, some I've liked, and some I've endured only because it's Jodie. However, considering my favourite genre of all is adventure comedies (although not necessarily the ones geared specifically towards children, but it's Jodie, so I don't care) I'm so very much looking forward to Nim's Island, and the trailer (supposedly) just showed up! (It's not like I've been looking for it actively, but I've kept my eyes open.) And it looks just perfect for me. Jodie is hilarious, the island is cool, and it looks all good. April 4th, here I come!!

Watch the trailer under here!! )

In preparation for January 6th I've also been watching some old L Word episodes, and found myself *squeeing* very very happily. Oooooh, Bette/Jodi, I'm sorry Tina, but after seeing Bette and Jodi together I'm quite far away from your camp on this issue. And Helena, god she's gorgeous. *swoon* And Alice is adorable, and even the Shane/Shay storyline had me giggling happily... Clearly it's been way too long since last year's season finale...

First a THANK YOU!!! to [livejournal.com profile] xclairedelune for the beautiful photo album I got in the mail today. The pictures are so gorgeous, thank you so very much for sending them to me... Wow. Thank you.

and there's also a Quote of the Day:

"And if nudity offends you, I'd advice you to go somewhere else. I mean, we don't have any actual nudity here, but I just don't appreciate that uptight attitude."
~Vance DeGeneres

And I cut my hair the other day, which kinda makes me look a little like the Vagina Wig's girlfriend. Which would have been amusing if I cared at all about the story line. More Helena, please. And more Bette/Jodi (tho there's plenty to make me happy even as it is...).

And a teeny bit of snark while I'm at it; yeah, Ellen, that's fair, asking the straight actor if he had any trepidation about playing a gay character. What's he gonna say to you? 'Yeah, I mean, I was really worried there for a bit, what if gay dudes started hittin' on me, thinking I was that way, you know. Finally I decided I had to do it, 'cause I needed the money.'

Last week was crazy. Just wanna mention that.

I spent a substantial amount of time tonight making myself a new wallpaper... it's not necessarily all romantic, and, despite evidence to the contrary, I do know the difference between an actor and the character she plays, but I had a lot of fun! Have a look!
