what may or may not be hard reality

I'm so sad about Natasha Richardson. The Parent Trap is one of my favourite films. I remember taking my little sister and her best friend to see it for my sister's birthday, and we all fell in love with it. She has such a warmth to her in all the roles I've seen her in. RIP. :(

Apparently there are no lefties on my flist so far, although three righties wear their watches on their right wrist. But I guess we compensate for beating the statistics on the left/right thing by being overwhelmingly queer instead.

Saw Better Off Ted. Funny enough show. A little spazzed out and all over the place, like it's 20 minutes of promos cut together, but it's a pilot, and I'm guessing it gets better once they settle in. I don't know that I would keep watching it if Portia wasn't on it, but she is, and so I will definitely keep watching. The characters are crazy, but lots of fun, and I bet they can be lovable after a while, and I'm looking forward to seeing where they take it!

So I watched Tuesday's Nip/Tuck the other day, and it was Portia's first episode, and I feel like I should say something about it. But while her scenes were nice, she wasn't really in it much. Her first scene was adorable, it's the one in my icon, but it lasted about all of 7 seconds, or so (however, if you add up all the times I've seen it, it comes to something significantly longer than 7 seconds. Ehem.). And then she played pool with that guy who's not Julia's ex-husband but the other one who thinks he's so hot, and he was whiny, and she was really hot and kinda bitchy, which was awesome!! I'm not sure I've ever seen Portia play so totally self-confidently sexy before, it's very very hot.

Other than that, I can't do much more than wholeheartedly agree with Malinda Lo over at AfterEllen: "In the episode, which had way more naked Dr. Christian Troy in it than any lesbian can appreciate,". So true. Ick. I should just save the episodes and wait for recaps so I can go straight to Portia's scenes from now on. According to the peeps who have seen the previews (which I have not), tho, next week is looking to be awesome, so I'm looking forward to that. And Malinda (who appears to have inside info) even seems onboard with whatever twists are in store for Julia/Olivia, so maybe it won't be as bad as we've been fearing.

Sadly, I'm not really into this show enough to write anything intelligent about it... *shrug*

Mmmm, pizza for breakfast. Ham, pineapple, onion, and peanuts, with Bearnaise-sauce on top. Yum.

So, I ran a google search for 'sore throat' + 'wisdom teeth', and got a couple hits for dentistry sites saying that sure, if your wisdom teeth are acting up you can get a sore throat and fever and all kinds of things. And then all the rest were hits for random blogs where people were whining about 'OMG my wisdom teeth are killing me and on top of it they've give me a sore throat and fever, is that even possible??' So in light of recent discoveries; Ow ow ow ow. My wisdom teeth decided that this was the perfect week to grow, and OW. And on top of it they've given me a sore throat, and I feel slightly feverish. And I'm pretty sure it's related, because every time my wisdom teeth have as much as twitched in the last couple months, instant sore throat. However, this time they seem to mean business, which means I should probably call my dentist. But it's my week off, dammit. I don't wanna call my dentist. Why, wisdom teeth, why? I mean, my first two ones (upper jaw) just showed up one day and were like 'yo, dude, whazzup?' and didn't hurt one bit. Watch and learn, lower jaw wisdom teeth!

So instead I watched the Season Premiere of Nip/Tuck. Which, admittedly, is not a show I'm particularly into. I tried a few years ago when I learned that Jessalyn Gilsig was on it, and she's so very pretty, and yet I could not bring myself to watch it - too much with the guys that I don't care about. Mostly because I was utterly bored by it. However, Portia's gonna be on it this season, so really, I have to watch it. (I mean, the crappy movies I've sat through for her sake in the last month - I'll be blogging about those too, at some point.)

And I was kinda surprised that I didn't hate it. It was shiny, and occasionally amusing, and lots of silly. Daphne Zuniga was *gorgeous* (when I was 12 years old and not crushing on Heather Locklear or Marcia Cross she was my absolute favourite Melrose Place character ever). Pre-operation, that is. Stupid them. What people told me, but I didn't fully understand until I saw for myself, was how very very *gay* the show was. Wow. I spent a lot of time going 'omg they're totally gonna fuck like whoa right here on my teevee!' and then I was so disappointed when they didn't. But the touching, and the glances, and the talking, and the raising a kid together, so very gay. I have no idea which one is which of the two main dudes, but they should totally be sleeping together. Roma Maffia was adorable, but I knew that back from her Profiler days (I miss that show), and it's very cool that she's a lesbian. Looking forward to next week when Portia will be showing up!

eta: does anyone know where I might find Nip/Tuck manslash? Ehem.

I feel a bit like impending doom is upon me. The time of year has arrived when everything supposedly starts back up, only people are so busy realizing it that nothing is happening just yet. And time is just slipping beneath my fingers closer and closer to when things need to be finished, only I haven't more than thought to start them. I need to get better at delegating. I like deciding what needs to happen, but I suck at executing it. Only I feel guilty when I ask others to do things I know that I reasonably could do myself, even if it's not technically my duty. Blech. Also, I hate responsibility. Double-edged sword, that. I firmly believe that my opinions are the best, only I don't necessarily want to come up with them. Anyway. Instead of doing all those things I should be doing, I made a Portia wallpaper.
