In the tropics, you can buy them with the two holes pierced and with straws in the holes...they are a fairly common drink...

We used to buy them here before I spent all my days on the computer) and would break apart with a heavy mallet.....then separate the meat from the shell...the liquid disappeared with the opening.

you can buy sweetened coconut milk canned in the Oriental goods section of the super market. I use it sparingly in sauces to sweeten and flavor chicken and beef stews...

I am leaving for Boston early (3 AM) Friday morning....will be there a week...if the LK books come before them I will send off to you...but otherwise when I return...

btw..I LOVED Lord of the Hive...I could not wait for the hard copy so downloaded onto the Kindle....I will review....I really did love the book...I thought it flowed smoothly and in good time sequence...the POV did not bother me like it seemed to you. I will do a review for you when I return....I will undoubtedly re-read on the trip...
