Well, like
evil_leela said, sad underuse of awesome Lucy. However, she did have 2 actual scenes, 2 flashbacks, and a composite image of herself. Which is, you know, more than Christina's single-scene-with-(W)Horatio...
And she wasn't the killer, like Dina Meyer randomly and unnecessarily was, which is another point in their favour. It's not that I mind when my ladies play killers, but when they do I at least like some credible build-up of their motives, and some indication of why they got that desperate, or that cold, or that crazy. I realize that the point a lot of crime shows these days is trying to make is that anyone can become a killer if they're desperate enough, but in the process of having the least likely suspect so they can surprise the audience they often fail to convey why exactly it was that this person got to be desperate enough to become a murderer.
Take this girl, she looks a little sad, and whimpers something about how it would wreck her marriage (really, her husband's gonna leave her because she lost the ring? That doesn't much sound like a husband worth having.)... and? She just stabbed someone a dozen times? It's one thing to close your eyes and pull a trigger (at least I imagine it as such), but to stab someone a dozen times? There has to be at least some pent-up anger and fire inside a person for that to happen. And sure, he egged her on, and whatnot, but at least let *some* of that fire show at some other point as well, or I'm not gonna buy it.
What I did like was Calleigh hitting on that new morgue girl.
(OMG WHAT HAPPENED TO ALEXX??? I knew she was leaving, but not watching the show it didn't much affect me, but I really missed her!! Where did she go???)
But back to the new morgue-girl. New Morgue-Girl was really pretty (tho I've completely forgotten her name), and Calleigh was *totally* hitting on her... Helping her, and smiling at her, and defending the boys without taking their side, and she should totally seduce her. In fact, I sort of want to write that fanfic. She fits right into my Calleigh!orgy fic. A few years have passed, Calleigh's gotten more secure in her role at the lab, and doesn't seem to be quite so weepy all the time, but she's still sleeping with everyone, and I can totally see it happening.
I do like that I can sort of tell that a few years have passed since I last watched this show. They're all a little older, and the dynamics seem to have matured a little bit, and I don't quite know what's going on. But sadly, (W)Horatio is still the same self-righteous smug bastard who reminds me every scene he's in why I began to hate this show. Why I will never ever get back into it as long as he's there.
And there's something very sweet going on between Delko and Calleigh. Have they ever acknowledged or acted on it, though, or are they still just teasing the audience? It puts a little bit of a hurdle in my Calleigh/New Morgue-Girl fic if I wanna go the serious way, but if I add it as an addendum to my Calleigh!Orgy fic I can work with her having both of them.
Finally; damn, what I wouldn't give to be that tanning butler...
